Braderie de Lille = Yard Sale x 100

September means back to school, but this year it also marks the long-awaited return (after a two-year absence) of the famous Braderie de Lille.

To tide you over as we work on the grand opening of Europe's biggest karaoke box, KaraFun BarLille, here's a recap, in numbers, of Europe's biggest two-day city-wide yard sale.

2 million
The number of visitors from around the world to attend the two-day yard sale and street fair.

1127
The date of the very first Foire de Lille (equivalent to a county fair) and the ancestor of today's Braderie de Lille.

400
Over a weekend, that's the number of tons of clams (the traditional meal of the braderie) eaten by venders, tourists and residents.

1/3
The ratio of venders that sell for a living, leaving the rest of the 2/3 who participate in the yard sale as independent sellers.

500
The number of waste compiled in the 2,500 trash cans that are emptied thanks to the 270 trash collectors working throughout the night to have everything spic and span come Monday.

14,000
The number of runners who pass the finish line during the event's marathon.

40
The time (in hours) it would take to hit all of the venders.
